Visual research into a particular mediascape presents a challenge to any researcher. At any given point in America, there are generally a substantial amount of publications spread out over a wide area and spanning several years. Add to that challenge the difficulty of locating items produced by communities of color often because of their scarcity, precariousness, or ephemerality. Regardless of the difficulty what are the motivations for artists and designers to decide on such a path?

Join Presa House Gallery and Documents of Resistance Archive this Friday, January 26th for an Instagram Live dialogue between artists to discuss recent archive projects. Antonio Serna will talk about Moving Forward Together: The Collaborative Mediascape of Indigenous Solidarity in the Americas 1969-1975, his current solo exhibition at Presa House Gallery, and he will be joined by artists and designers Alexandria Canchola and Joshua Duttweiler to discuss En El Frente (At the Frontline): Celebrating the Impact of Chicano Publications, their most recent collaborative exhibition which was held at Texas A&M Univeristy-Corpus Christy from September 28–October 6, 2023.
